Décors Index A-Z
Alpenrot - 1893
Light blue opal ground, pink spreading. Decorated with gold and colored painting in relief, often with cabochons.
Note: A black and white photo shown in ""Bancroft 1893, ill. p 203"" documents that an identical vase - both in form and decoration to the photo example of Alpenrot shown on pg 54, of the 2003 English edition of ""Loetz Bohemian Glass 1890-1940"" published by Hatje Cantz and currently residing in the Passau Glass Museum (first photo) - was produced for the 1893 Worlds' Columbian Exposition in Chicago. A description of the Alpenrot decor is also reported by K. Vogel on page 54 as being an opaque red spreading on a sky-blue ground.
