Schaum glass deco - 1935

The examples shown here were produced c1935 and should not be confused with the "Schaumglas" decor designed by Marie Wilfert-Waltl and produced by Loetz from 1905-07. 

Note: Many of the later Schaumglas objects can be found with the "Spiegelau" label.  Information found in "Loetz Bohemian Glass 1880-1940", Ricke (pg 36) and Cantz (pg 40) provides the following information: "From late 1938, directly after the invasion of the German troops, Paul Beate from Berlin, the former owner of the nearby glassworks in Spiegelau, Bavaria, leased and ran the factory.  During this period, he had typical Loetz articles of the 1930s made and sold as products of the Spiegelau glass works."  A collage showing an example of a "Spiegelau" vase along with the company's label is shown below.
